About Dr. Essam Quraishi

Dr. Essam Quraishi is the founder and President of Gastrointestinal and Liver Consultants, Inc. Dr. Quraishi graduated from medical school at Deccan College of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, India. He completed his Internal Medicine residency from Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. He joined his fellowship in gastroenterology at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit in 2005. He has been involved in multiple studies during his fellowship and has presented original research on quality control in screening colonoscopies at the national gastroenterology conferences. Dr. Quraishi has also been published for his work on pancreatitis in patients with renal failure.
Dr. Quraishi has a deep interest in general gastroenterology and hepatology and is well equipped to handle all general gastroenterology and hepatology pathology. His areas of interest include viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease and screening for colon cancer. Dr. Quraishi is well versed with the latest therapies for Hepatitis C including interferon and ribavirin sparing treatment. He is also experienced in administering the latest treatment for Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Dr. Quraishi believes in cultivating relationships with his patients and treating each patient as a whole. His philosophy is that you cannot treat an ailment the same for every patient, rather each patient has to be approached on an individual basis and a treatment plan must be tailored to fit the need of each individual patient.
Dr. Quraishi enjoys playing chess, tennis, and soccer in his spare time. He also enjoys spending his free time with his lovely wife, Dr. Fatima and three young children.

While the staff and medical assistant were kind and professional, my overall experience left me feeling quite disappointed. I was seen by the doctor an hour and twenty minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and our interaction lasted less than five minutes. Unfortunately, the brief nature of the visit made me feel unheard and that my concerns weren’t fully addressed.
I completely understand that doctors have very busy schedules, but after waiting for over an hour and a half, I had hoped for a more thorough discussion and examination. I left feeling that the level of care I received did not meet expectations.

Dr. Quraishi is a lovely doctor who allowed me to explain all my symptoms and really listened, scheduling me for an endoscopy at their next available date and giving me medicine that was extremely helpful. I waited over an hour after my appointment time to be seen by him. After a procedure that showed some bad results, Dr. communicated what they meant to me really poorly. He seemed unsure about why my results looked like that, told me I needed 2 different surgeries to *maybe* fix the problem. I'm still not sure about what to do, and his office is making it impossible to get my results so I can get a second opinon.
