I was a little disappointed. I waited an hour and fifteen minutes to see him and got only ten minutes. It wasn't my fault he was behind but I suffered for it. I had lots to tell him but we talked about five minutes and took five minutes to go over my medicinal needs, ie. what refills I need.

Dr Carbonell was professional, courteous and open to any thoughts I had regarding my medication. The new office is spiffy too. I'm doing better so I see him next in August. I like Dr Carbonell a lot.

Dr. C. has seen mde through my latest depressive episode and kept an eye out until it passed. I'm in a good place right now and will enjoy it as long as it lasts, with the comforting thought that the doctor will be there to help me again when I hit a low in the future.

I never had a negative perception of Dr. Carbonell, and yet I can still say that he has grown on me over the handful of times that we have met. Psychiatrists often seem distant from their patients. However, he remembers quite subtle details from our previous conversations (details that I don't believe he had documented in notes), and appears genuinely interested in hearing about many facets of my life. Part of him doing this is his responsibility as a psychiatrist. Part of it is that he is experienced at his profession. Another part, I believe, is that his personality at work is not simply a persona. In my best evaluation (and I am admittedly not a clinician), he has a genuine and caring personality that also accompanies him when he leaves work. (As a disclaimer, this is not to say that Dr. Carbonell will engage in an hour-long conversation with each of his patients, myself included. I doubt that doing so would be feasible, unless planned.)

Welcoming and pleasant to take history without feeling interrogated - interested in options for alternatives and kind to suggest better ways to handle medications - keen to help improvements with objectives clearly stated. Looking forward to next necessary appointment.

Sitting in the waiting room for this length of time without anyone coming out to tell me anything is unacceptable.. While Dr. Carbonell apologized for the wait, which I appreciate, I expect that this will not happen again. emergencies come up (that didn't seem to be the case) and sometimes meetings run over, but not a full hour.

Dr. Carbonell is wonderful, and by far the best psychiatrist I've been treated by. He doesn't work on a strict clock, so if you have more to say he won't stop you. He really listens to your concerns and will always work with you to get your medications perfect (even if it takes like 10 tries). The only thing you have to understand about him is that he works at the adjacent hospital as head of the department and only sees out-patients on certain days roughly 2pm-last patient). He is often late. Bring a book or something to do, there's a tv in the waiting room. Hospital emergencies will override your appointment but Barbara (his assistant) will usually have an idea of where/when to expect him. I think he's worth the amount of unpredictability. I've had to chase him down a couple times for a prescription I need hand written, but Barbara will help you out with finding him.

Cannot say enough good things about this wonderful and most caring doctor. My husband had resisted taking "meds" for many years and tried several alternative treatments but, after an earlier Consult with Dr Carbonell, we both agreed that if the time came that only meds would work, he wanted it to be under Dr Carbonell's care. The last treatment program (TMS) was not successful for him and we are so grateful that with Dr Carbonell's guidance he is now able to resume his life free of the severe depression and anxiety from which he was suffering.

Excellent first impression. He listens. He understands. He did not rush to prescribe any medications, as other doctors do. I have been through a handful of psychiatrists for the past 6 years and one thing I've learned is to trust those who listen and get to know you before prescribing . Besides, he is very kind and has a positive attitude.

The last 2 visits I had with the doctor were cancelled via my home phone less than an hour and half before the appointment. Since I live in the suburbs, and appointments are after 3pm, I leave earlier than that to get to the appointments on time. The first time, the primary number I had in Zocdoc was my home phone, although my cell was in there, so I tried not to be upset. Although we did wait for about 2.5 hours until the only person left was the janitor. The other issue with this is that after 5pm, there is rarely anyone to greet you at the front desk so how your doctor is supposed to know you're there is beyond me. Anyway, thankfully my mom gets her voicemails from Vonage sent as emails to a secondary email address since she only checks when she has time really. We had a lot of time there, so eventually she saw it while we were waiting. The second time, his nurse called my house phone after 5pm. My appointment was at 6:30pm. We were already gone, and after the last incident, I made sure to make the primary phone number in Zocdoc my cell phone. Also, while I was on the way there, I received a text reminding me about my appointment and I believe an email, and the day before I had received an email confirming my appointment. Neither time was my appointment cancelled in ZocDoc where I could have received notice immediately. Well I assume immediately. I would imagine if a cancellation is done via Zocdoc, you get an email or text immediately and notice on the app. It would make sense that it would work that way in my opinion. One would think that if a patient is required to use this system to make appointments, it would only make sense that cancellations by the doctor would be done on the website as well. I'm not discounting the hospitality of a phone call. What I am saying is if you're going to use this service for appointments and to send out confirmations, cancelling them as well through this service would be logical...instead of less than 90 minutes before a person's appointment via phone call. One would also consider that if you receive a VM, utilizing this system as a secondary method would be useful since it is the system that confirms, not a person, and it's basically an hour before the patient's appointment. While Dr. Carbonell is a nice man, the service is just not there. Also, when I had my initial visit, his student laughed at one of my issues and experience at what I consider to be my first real failure at life. I have now returned to college for a second Bachelor's and to achieve what I came here to achieve in the first place, but still, I was appalled.
