Her academic work has focused on pediatric dermatology, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, skin cancer in skin of color, and rare dermatologic disorders. She has presented research nationally and internationally through organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and Texas Dermatological Society (TDS). Dr. Lopes has received several academic distinctions, including the Society for Pediatric Dermatology Underrepresented in Medicine Mentorship Award and the VisTA Scholars Award at Boston Children’s Hospital.
