Getting to know Dr. Fang Yang
Dr. Yang is board-certified in both general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, and she holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
Dr. Yang received her medical degree from the Medical School of Nanjing University in China. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the State University of New York in Buffalo, followed by several years of neuroscience research at Tufts University and Columbia University. She had completed her psychiatry residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston – McGovern Medical School (UTHealth) and the addiction psychiatry fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
After completing her training, Dr. Yang worked as a general and addiction psychiatrist at the Mental Health Clinic, Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center at Houston. She also held an academic position at Baylor College of Medicine, supervising medical students, residents, and physician assistant students.
She is specialized in treating patients with a history of depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, anxiety, substance use disorders, and trauma-related disorders. Dr. Yang’s practice focuses on medication management and she incorporates supportive therapy and motivational interviewing, striving to build a strong therapeutic relationship to help patients achieve their goals.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

A kind doctor, which is rare is psychiatry. Dr Yang treats with care and extensive knowledge. As someone that has trauma surrounding doctors, I've never felt more comfortable with a medical professional. She knows how to work with patients to give them the best care, and uses your appointment to have important conversations, listen, give information, and encourage. Truly a good one.
