Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MN
Hi there, I'm Felicia! Hi, I am Felicia Ikebude, a psychiatric and Mental health Nurse practitioner (PMHNP) practicing Telehealth in Minnesota. I see patients six years of age and older mostly for the medication management of their psychiatric illnesses. I worked as a registered nurse for more than 15 years and as a family nurse practitioner since 2014 before getting my psychiatric and mental health nurse certification. My life and professional experiences have given me the needed tools to care for all my patients with compassion and dignity. I earned my master’s degree from Metropolitan State University in 2013, my Doctorate in 2019 from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and my Post Master’s degree from Walden University in 2023. My approach Health is creating a balance in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I see all my patients as unique beings who must be cared for holistically. Listening and allowing each Patient to share their stories allows me the opportunity to serve them better through a shared decision-making approach. My focus I see children six years and older, young adults, and older adults with depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, OCD, PTSD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. I am currently accepting new patients. My communication style I like to hear the patient’s history by active listening, note-taking, and paraphrasing to ensure that the patient and I are on the same page. I allow patients to ask questions and consent to the agreed treatment plan. My journey to mental healthcare I practice as a family nurse practitioner in a safety net hospital, where patients have co-occurring medical and psychiatric diagnoses. I do see the difficulties that patients with mental health illnesses go through to get care and find providers. Seeing this gap in care and the need for mental health providers led me to get my certification as a mental health practitioner.
