Dr. Felix Widlacki, DO, is double board certified in Psychiatry and Addictions. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University. He completed both his internship and residency in Psychiatry at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. Widlacki has worked across multiple levels of care, including office settings, inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment for addiction and eating disorders, and as a professional sports consultant. He has also been honored as an outstanding mental health educator.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I meet with my patients frequently, and I spend time on each encounter. My patient's routinely tell me that they don't feel rushed, and they like that they feel they can talk without being interrupted. I partner with my patients and respect your opinion and knowledge of their own experience. My goal is to partner with you to help you feel better and live your best life.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
During your first session, I will provide my diagnosis and recommendations. I will typically be able to recommend a medication after our first evaluation, and you will be able to start treatment right away.

The office staff was great, he was also attentive. Unfortunately, he recommended a course of action that is different from what the therapist we're working with-who actually knows my son-recommended. I wish he would've offered to work with her first, or to see my son for a few appointments before making a recommendation. Probably a good choice if you have a diagnosis and you have found the right meds, but if you are still in the adjustment period, he may not be for you.

After my experience with the lack of respect or concern at my PCP I was referred to a different doctor but I did my own research on Zoc.doc and found this office and I am so glad I did. Dr. Widlacki worked with me and explained everything we were going to go over and actually followed through. Since I was so nervous and still reeling from the PCP the day before he seemed to be reserved in his words and kept focused on hearing me and listening to my needs and hopes. I was also completely impressed that he understood a woman and their unique changes later in life. pre-post menopause actually does affect how your body reacts to the different meds and he noted it and discussed it with me as to why he chose a certain med. To be honest half the time I have to school my OB/gyn staff on an issue or situation and I didn't have to do that this time which makes me want to work with Dr. Widlacki more. Thank you

Dr Felix was attentive to my needs. It was my first visit and he did not suggest medication right off the bat. He suggested therapy and also recommended a program that may be able to help. He did not jump immediately to a diagnosis. This was comforting to me. He also scheduled a follow-up before we hung up. Also, he reviewed next steps for me- basically a summary of what I need to do before we ended the call.
