I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) with a minor in Humanities/Health Care and Social Issues, where I first cultivated my commitment to the medical profession. Following college, I joined AmeriCorps*VISTA, a national anti-poverty service program where volunteers serve in communities throughout the US, focusing on enriching educational programs and vocational training for the nation’s underprivileged classes. I worked as a program coordinator for Family Pathfinders, a partnership of community volunteer teams in Houston, Texas. After completing medical school at the Ross University School of Medicine, I worked at the Mount Sinai Medical Center as a Liver/Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Liaison, where I worked directly with the transplant psychiatrist. This solidified my appreciation and passion for trying to help alleviate emotional distress. This led to my pursuit of psychiatry. I completed my psychiatry residency and a child psychiatry fellowship at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center, where I also served as a Chief Fellow. I found child psychiatry a way to have a more complete knowledge of my patients. I believe in engaging in my community and stay active by volunteering. In my free time, I enjoy running and traveling.
