I never write reviews, but for Dr. Rosen - I will. He was great, and I'm really looking forward to my future appointments. I've seen many therapists, and he by far is the best one. Highly recommend.
Today was my first appointment and first ever experience with therapy. Even this one session was extremely productive. He does not waste your time and made me feel very comfortable to share. He was very helpful in guiding my thought process.

More about Dr. Frank Rosen, PsyD

(NOTE:Due to the current crisis, I am doing all sessions remotely) I am a practicing clinician of over 20 years, experienced in psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and career coaching. Cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) focuses on the development of concrete problem-solving techniques and is often ideal for problems that are highly acute and/or relatively circumscribed. Psychodynamic therapy examines emotional conflicts in relation to broader aspects of one's personality and life history. Its objective is to help individuals identify and overcome fears which may be unconscious and sometimes counter-intuitive. Although I am an out of network doctor I can often work with Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna and other plans as long as they are PPO plans with out-of-network benefits. I will do the out of network billing myself. If you are not sure of your benefits please reach out to me before making an appointment and I can advise you of the questions you'll want to ask your insurer. I am interested in helping clients address internal obstacles that may affect work, intimate relationships, and creative endeavors as well as specific psychiatric problems such as anxiety disorders (panic, social phobia) and affective conditions including depressive and bipolar disorders. I also have specialties in substance abuse and coping with acute or chronic medical conditions. My personal style is open and direct. I was previously Director of the Outpatient Referral Service of the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia and am familiar with a diverse range of mental health specialists and programs. After assessing your needs I can facilitate referrals to such resources if needed.

Very Helpful! Listened carefully and he made me feel very comfortable. We're meeting again very soon.
This is only based on my intake but I really liked him and plan to see him regularly.

Only my first appointment, but very personable and polite. Helpful with my insurance.
Thoughtful listener who gives helpful suggestions and isn't afraid to challenge you.
I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Rosen and would recommend him completely.

I highly recommend Frank as a thoughtful and effective therapist.

Frank was calm, patient, and understanding even if I was running late and created a comfortable environment for our first consultation. Set up another appointment and would recommend.

I waited until seeing Dr. Rosen a second time before writing a review. He's warm, courteous, easy to talk to, communicative over email, and open about his billing practices. So far, he has demonstrated patience and attentiveness, and a clear interest in letting me (and helping me!) articulate what I'm feeling. He hasn't rushed to label or characterize, but has, through precise word choice and thoughtful questions, been helping me explore the nuances of the events and emotions I've discussed with him. What characterizations or patterns of behavior we have identified, I feel like we've identified together. He also did not lose context of who I was or the details of what we had talked about during our first session, which I really appreciated—I feel like it's sadly common to experience a sort distracted forgetfulness from many physicians and health professionals nowadays.

While we were not a good fit, I felt Dr. Rosen was still very helpful and offered some good referrals based on what he thought I needed. Highly ethical of him.
The offices were clean and friendly. I went to Dr. Rosen for several really big issues. He took several pages of notes, asked me some interesting questions. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was when I spoke about my hair loss as a woman, I didn't think he was very understanding about how that impacts women specifically.

Insurance authorization proved to be a headache, so I almost ended up canceling my first appointment, but I'm very glad I kept with it -- Dr. Rosen is an awesome psychologist. With a PsyD, Dr. Rosen's credentials ensure you're getting your money's worth (a PsyD is pretty much the gold standard for clinicians). Dr. Rosen is immensely confident in himself, and probably very experienced, so the whole session seemed to move very quickly, while still feeling comfortable and efficacious. As someone used to seeing whatever therapist was available on campus or suggested by my insurance, after about 30 seconds into my first appointment with Dr. Rosen it was pretty clear I was having the first therapy session of my life that was actually productive. Moreover, over email and phone Dr. Rosen is very accessible, quick, and communicative, so dealing with insurance problems/paperwork never becomes a complete nightmare.

Dr Rosen wasn't for me. He didn't really explain the tactics he was using, so even though there was a method to his sessions (I assume), it really didn't feel that way. He frequently forgot what we'd discussed the week prior.
This was my first time ever seeing a psychologist and I was naturally nervous about it. He was very calming and relatable and made me feel at ease. Definitely looking forward to working out some issues I've been having with his guidance.

Only based on my first appointment, but I really really enjoyed my time with him. He's relaxed, perceptive, and compassionate. Looking forward to learning more about myself with him & our conversations!
Talking to someone is very uncomfortable for me, but I have been enjoy my sessions with Frank. He is non-judgmental and is very focused during our sessions.
Really impressed. There was no wait time, Dr. Rosen was very kind and an excellent listener, and made great observations and recommendations for me. A really first-rate psychologist, I look forward to seeing him again.
Rosen is a classic NY psychologist. He is very real and straightforward and is interested in understanding issues and presenting them in a new light. He moves everything nicely along, and didn't push on time. Am looking forward to working with him.
Very insensitive Made me feel extremely uncomfortable Did not offer me tissues when I was hysterically crying I felt worse when I left.
Overall the visit was disappointing and impersonal. I didn't feel comfortable explaining my situation and I don't think he felt comfortable helping me; I actually felt worst after talking to him.

Excellent psychotherapist. Highly recommended!
He was very unhelpful. Asked met to run my own insurance. Became angry when he thought for a moment that I did not. In response to my concerns, he basically told me to read a book.
Frank was very nice and easy to talk with.
So far, very thorough and exacting but still comfortable in conversation. Much more direct than other therapists I have seen, which means no "spinning wheels" sensation. Have only seen him once so far so it's hard to comment on anything long-term. The first meeting however was very reassuring.
Terrific doctor. Very smart, easy to talk to
