Psychiatrist

*After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete required intake forms prior to your appointment* I’m a board-certified psychiatrist, and I earned my MD from New York University Grossman School of Medicine. I specialize in anxiety disorders, panic, and OCD, with a clinical focus on supporting patients whose internal experiences, like thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations, have been labeled as threatening by the brain’s overactive threat-detection system. My approach is both scientific and deeply personal. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps patients examine the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which encourages mindfulness and values-driven living; and internal family systems (IFS), which explores the different parts of ourselves that show up to protect or manage distress. I also incorporate psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspectives to understand unconscious patterns rooted in early experience. In addition to completing my residency training, I pursued a psychoanalytic fellowship at the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute, which deepened my understanding of internal conflict, character structure, and emotional development. My work is shaped by a commitment to whole-person care, seeing patients not only through their diagnoses, but in the full context of their histories, values, and lived experiences. What drew me to this work, and what continues to motivate me, is the privilege of sitting with people in the most honest moments of their lives. I care deeply about delivering thoughtful, individualized care in a mental health system that too often prioritizes efficiency over understanding.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is a collaborative space where we can explore the patterns that shape how you think, feel, and act, especially the ones that may be outside your awareness but still influence your daily life. Many patients come to treatment feeling anxious, self-critical, or overwhelmed by internal pressure. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. A sense of curiosity and openness is enough to begin. My style is warm, thoughtful, and engaged. I aim to meet you where you are while also gently challenging the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I don’t see anxiety as something to get rid of, but as something we can learn to understand and relate to differently, so that it no longer runs the show. Often, anxious parts of us are trying to help: by keeping us alert, preventing mistakes, or avoiding risk. I work with those parts rather than against them. My approach is flexible and integrative, grounded in respect for your unique story. I’m especially attuned to the needs of people navigating perfectionism, self-doubt, or high achievement. I have experience working with college students and young adults, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals, healthcare professionals, and others managing complex emotional or relational challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Whether we are focusing on therapy, medication, or both, I begin by getting to know you as a person, not just your symptoms, but the broader context of your life. Our first sessions typically involve a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where we'll discuss your current struggles, medical and psychiatric history, and goals for treatment. From there, we'll collaboratively develop a plan that reflects your needs and preferences. If we're doing therapy together, sessions may involve exploring the emotional and relational patterns that have shaped your life, increasing awareness of internal dynamics, or practicing new ways of responding to fear or discomfort. We might use exposure-based strategies to help interrupt cycles of avoidance or engage in dialogue with the protective parts of you that have taken on difficult roles. If we're incorporating medication, we'll discuss how it fits into your broader care and monitor how you're responding over time. Sessions are conversational, reflective, and personalized. They are a space for both insight and experimentation, for asking questions, noticing patterns, and trying new ways of relating to yourself. I hope that over time, you'll feel more connected to your values, more grounded in your experience, and freer to live in ways that feel meaningful to you.
