Getting to know Dr. Gerard Scardino
Dr. Scardino is board certified in General Psychiatry with 39 years of experience treating the full spectrum of psychiatric disorders using a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach to expedite patients' recovery. He has received multiple awards and recognitions in Harris County for his service excellence.
He earned his Bachelor's degree from Tulane University, completed his Doctor of Medicine at Louisiana State University, New Orleans, and completed both his internship and residency in Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Scardino began practicing psychiatric medicine in 1986 and has been chosen as the head of interdisciplinary treatment teams numerous times. He has served as a medical director at the Harris County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority and Mid City Community Service Center.
Dr. Scardino has a deep passion for psychiatric medicine and specializes in chronic and severe psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, mind-body medicine, cultural aspects of psychiatry, and sexual dysfunctions.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Medication Management promptly and in a timely manner. Dr. Scardino doesn’t double or triple book appointment spots. Your appointment time belongs solely to you. We value and respect your time. Dr. Scardino takes an empathetic approach when providing care to you. With his extensive knowledge through his experience, you can rest assure that he will accurately and appropriately diagnosis you with a specific condition based on historical and on-going symptoms. He care about spending time with you and answering any and all questions that may arise during the evaluation. During the evaluation and follow-ups, you will receive more time with Dr. Scardino then other practices.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Patient coordinators obtain all demographic information and send out new patient packets through docusign. After all new patient packet information is filled out then the patient will be given an appointment with Dr Scardino for an initial evaluation. After the evaluation, medications will be prescribed and sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice. Dr Scardino will request a follow up visit in 4 weeks to monitor the effects of the medications.

We offer additional service called Brainview, which is a neurological test that assess for any organic brain dysfunction. The test can be very helpful to detect early signs of dementia, traumatic brain injury, ADHD, depression, panic attack, anxiety, seizures, and other neurological disorders.
