Getting to know Dr. Germaine Hawkins
TMS Center of Mansfield is the Neuromodulation Division of Hawkins Psychiatry PC located in the Professional Building I of Methodist Mansfield Hospital. Our focus is providing TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and Micro Current Neurofeedback (MCN) to patients suffering from Major Depression Disorder, PTSD, anxiety disorders and other psychiatric conditions.
TMS Therapy provides local electromagnetic stimulation to specific brain regions known to be directly associated with mood regulation while MCN does not train the brain like traditional neurofeedback; rather it “retrains” the brain and CNS (central nervous system) by allowing it to reorganize itself and shift from its formerly fixed patterns. This is analogous to re-booting a computer. Both of these treatments are noninvasive, safe and supported by evidence-based research.
Dr Germaine B Hawkins is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Biomedical Sciences – finishing with honors. He completed his medical studies at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNT-HSC/FW) and General Psychiatry Residency at John Peter Smith Hospital, also affiliated with UNT-HSC/FW where he received various honors including Most Outstanding Intern Award in May 2000. Dr Hawkins has operated his own private practice since 2004.
Dr Germaine B Hawkins an officer within the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps. Major Hawkins has served his country during two overseas tours. In 2005 at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, Europe (USAFE), he served as the Combat Stress Support team psychiatrist for local troops and NATO forces deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Honestly just felt like he wasn’t listening to the issues I’m experiencing as has been the issue with most. My primary physician wanted me evaluated. believes this has been my issue since age 12 and been misdiagnosed at 12 with anxiety/depression/Etc. I told him my doctor has me on sleep medicine for anxiety and sleep but the issue is she cannot prescribe me what she believes I need during the day time. He threw a sleep medication out for me to do when I already stated I’m on one that works. Was never even evaluated. Was the whole point of this appointment. Said would send me things to fill out for the For the evaluation when appointment concluded. Did not happen. As well as I was told to go on the call at 10:15 I did waited til about 10:45 til he actually got on. Just very disappointed over all that I have to go somewhere else to get the help I’m needing. My day to day is not going to be fixed by yet another medication for sleep. The sleep has been handled.

I had to fill out lengthy paperwork prior to my appointment. The appointment was postponed 45 mins by the doctor, then when I showed up to the zoom meeting, he said he’d be another 20-30 minutes. At that point, I’m already in the zoom…I can’t leave in case he shows up. Very rude to expect someone to just sit in a meeting room waiting for you. I at least hoped he was taking that time to review my paperwork to become familiar with why I was seeing him. No. Every question he asked me was redundant. I would have liked to have discussed *why* I’m taking the medication that I’m taking with him, to see if something else may be a better fit. He doesn’t have time for that nonsense. He’s an online prescription pad.

This was my first visit to a new doctor since relocating from San Antonio and I was very pleased. I saw the nurse practitioner and she was wonderful. She was very thorough in obtaining my past medical history, very attentive to my current needs and extremely gracious in her treatment. I will definitely be a return patient.

I got five minutes with an assistant then a recommendation for in-patient treatment at a hospital. I had to barter my way out of being locked up for a few days. Never going back, I think this tops the list of worst experiences with a mental health professional.

Well not the best use of time, waited an hour to see him and then he basically had a 10 min conversation, and he gave me my basic meds when I was hoping to talk about my depression. Guess I'll have to wait until next month to actually talk to the doctor
