About Dr. Gus Katsigiorgis

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT TREAT THE FOLLOWING: pediatric patients less than 10 years of age, open wounds, complex hand injuries or surgeries, cases with prior recent surgery, spinal surgery, fractures more than 1 week old, compound or complex fractures (open fractures), lacerations, and bites. Dr. Katsigiorgis was raised in Long Island, New York. He graduated magna cum laude in biology from Long Island University, C.W. Post campus, as part of the honors program. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology, graduating in the top 5 percent of his class. He completed his internship in orthopedic surgery at Peninsula Hospital Center from 2000 to 2001, where he served as chief intern. He then completed his orthopedic residency at the same hospital, serving as chief resident from 2004 to 2005. Dr. Katsigiorgis is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who scored 2nd place on the National Orthopedic Board Exam. He is currently appointed chief of orthopedics at Mercy Hospital. Dr. Katsigiorgis joined Island Musculoskeletal Care in 2005. He performs minimally invasive knee and hip replacements, including shoulder replacements such as reverse total shoulder replacements. He also performs arthroscopic sports surgeries, including anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and treatment of sports-related shoulder injuries such as rotator cuff repair and instability surgery. He has been a guest lecturer, helping to promote medical knowledge within the medical community. His hospital affiliations include LIJ Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Mercy Medical Center, and LIJ North Shore University Hospital at Valley Stream. He Board Certified to treat NY State Worker's Compensation injuries of the Neck, Spine, Back, Shoulder, Arm, Elbow Hand, Wrist,Hip. Leg, Knee, Ankle and Foot. He also treats injures due to Care Accidents, (NF) and slip and falls.
