Getting to know Dr. Harrison Strom

I am Dr. Harrison Strom, a board-certified psychiatrist licensed in Connecticut and Massachusetts. My clinical work and research focus on mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and complex diagnostic questions, including patients who have not found satisfying answers with prior treatment. I founded Calivor Psychiatric Solutions because I kept seeing the same pattern during my years on inpatient psychiatric units: patients who had spent months or years in outpatient care without ever truly seeing a psychiatrist, with rushed appointments and diagnoses that never quite fit. I built this practice to be different. Every patient sees a physician specialist, every appointment is unhurried, and your care is never handed off to someone who does not know your story.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many patients who come to me have been through outpatient psychiatric care before and left feeling unheard, misdiagnosed, or like just another appointment on a crowded schedule. That experience is exactly what I built this practice to address. I take time with every patient because complex cases require it. I will ask detailed questions about your history, your symptoms, and what has or has not worked in the past, because getting that full picture is essential to finding the right diagnosis and medication plan for you specifically. All appointments are conducted via secure telehealth, so you can access physician-level psychiatric care from the comfort of your home. I am direct and will give you honest, clear answers about your options and what to expect. You are an active participant in your care, and I will always make sure you understand and agree with the plan we put in place together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, typically 45 to 60 minutes, where I take the time to thoroughly understand your mental health history, current symptoms, medical background, and treatment goals. This is especially important for patients with complex presentations or those who feel their diagnosis has never quite been right. From there, I develop a personalized medication management plan and walk you through my reasoning so you understand the rationale behind every recommendation. Follow-up appointments allow us to assess how you are responding to treatment, make thoughtful adjustments as needed, and check in on your overall wellbeing. All sessions are conducted via telehealth, with evening and weekend hours available to accommodate your schedule. My goal is always to provide the kind of careful, unhurried psychiatric care that leads to real clarity and lasting stability.
