About Dr. Hasani Swindell
Hasani W. Swindell, MD, is fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint preservation and cartilage restoration of the knee, shoulder and hip. He provides care to everyone from the weekend warrior, to the most competitive athletes using the most up-to-date, minimally-invasive surgical and non-surgical treatments. Dr. Swindell has specialized training and expertise in complex knee, shoulder and hip injuries including cartilage restoration, meniscus preservation, ligament reconstruction surgery and shoulder replacement surgery.
Originally from Southfield, Michigan, Dr. Swindell is a former athlete and uses many of his prior experiences to effectively connect with patients and tailor treatment according to their aspirations and goals to return to activity. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a major in Biological Sciences and minors in Chemistry and Sociology. He subsequently earned his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY which is also where he completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. While in residency, he was awarded the Ira Wolfe Award for Excellence in Sports Medicine as well as the Kenneth A. Forde Diversity Alliance Resident Award. He was then selected to receive advanced specialized training in sports medicine, shoulder surgery and cartilage restoration at the renowned Midwest Orthopedics at Rush in Chicago, IL. During his time in Chicago, he served as a team physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Fire, Chicago Steel, DePaul University and a host of local high schools.

Dr. Swindell is exceptional! I saw two other orthopedic specialists before him, who were unable to help. Dr. Swindell took his time to discuss the sports accident that led to my knee injury and listened to my (many) fears and concerns. He asked several questions about my athletic training, and outlined very clear next steps to assess available treatment options (including surgery). He was patient, attentive, detail-oriented and very kind. I felt heard, free to make decisions re treatment options in line with my specific professional / athletic obligations and in the hands of a caring professional! Highly highly recommend

He will just go off existing images. For some reason he avoided to examine the part of me that hurts because it’s not his field even though he is a hip physician. He also fact check the reason for the visit like the patient is not at the right place. Directly told me what I feel to be fissure tissues to be unrelated pain. Would not recommend. Then when what is obvious needed is further imaging via ultrasound, he pawn me back to urology instead
of just ordering a set for me or point me to a urologist that he can recommend.

My experience with Dr Swindell was phenomenal!
The office/ hospital is great. The space is modern and clean. The staff was all very friendly. I was seen promptly at my appointment time.
Dr Swindell was awesome. He ran a few test for my injured shoulder and gave me a very clear diagnosis. He prescribed me medication to reduce the inflammation and referred me to a PT therapist he has personally used and vouges for. Which is great because many of the PT shops in Brooklyn are garbage! He gave me all the time I needed to explain my condition, he thouroghly explained what I was experiencing, and how to rehab my shoulder, and I he didn't rush me at all.
Very highly recommended!
