Hello! I am Heather Hudson and I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. My primary area of focus is medication management. My approach I utilize motivational interviewing, holistic, non-judgemental approach to all clients. I like to encourage clients to love themselves, and recognize that we can only control our own actions. My focus I am comfortable seeing about any mental health disorder. I typically work with bipolar, depression anxiety, PTSD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective and other related ailments. My communication style I like to create a nonjudgemental environment. I like to utilize evidence-based research in my practice. I am quite direct in my communication and like to be clear as possible in an effort to decrease misunderstandings. My journey to mental healthcare I started my career as a CNA, then eventually worked my way to a psychiatric provider. During my nursing career, I had the opportunity to work with mental health disorders and realized that those suffering from mental health disorders were often viewed negatively. I wanted to change that, so my focus for grad school became psychiatry so that I can empower, and help others be the best version of themselves while also decreasing the negative view on mental health. My goals for you I encourage clients to make their own goals as I believe it will empower them to succeed. I use a patient-centered approach, often using motivational interviewing. My first session with you A problem-focused discussion. I love to hear about what the client describes as the problem, then dive into what is their goal of seeking treatment and how we can work together to achieve this goal. I will ask a bunch of questions to help guide our treatment options.
