About Heather Steele
After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from James Madison University, where she graduated Cum Laude, Heather developed a passion for dermatology while working as medical assistant for Mohs surgery at Anne Arundel Dermatology. She pursued this passion by completing her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at James Madison University, where she completed her elective rotation in dermatology and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Heather is board certified and licensed in the state of Maryland and is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

This was my first time seeing this provider and it will be my last. I am a complex autoimmune patient, and several doctors encouraged me to get a more thorough dermatology evaluation because my symptoms may be more than basic eczema or rosacea which were listed on my chart.
I brought photos, explained my recurring symptoms, and shared the medications and treatments may be calming or masking what my skin looks like. I understand a diagnosis may not be confirmed without an active rash, but I did not feel listened to or meaningfully evaluated. Two additional people were in the room and were not introduced, and I was not asked if I was comfortable with them present. I was so frustrated by the provider not listening I was in tears. I relayed I needed help, and the provider walked out of the exam room on me. I left extremely upset.
I’m glad I didn’t give up. I connected with an MD at another practice who listened and prescribed appropriate testing.

Very little wait time. She was unsure if diagnosis. Took a culture it is a week later and I have called twice with no result info. This has caused me high anxiety!!!
