About Dr. Heather Thomas

My path to medicine began when I was just a child. When my grandmother was diagnosed with severe insulin-dependent diabetes, I became her little helper. I learned to recognize the signs of hypoglycemia and how to draw up and administer insulin injections based on her blood sugar readings, all by age 8. Spending so much time with her made one thing very clear: I wanted to spend my life helping people the way she needed to be helped. My approach to patient care is rooted in humility and partnership. Yes, I have the degree and the medical knowledge, but my patients are the only ones who truly know how they feel. I listen first. My role is to bring my medical knowledge to the table, build trust and make the best decisions by working together. That collaboration is everything. Outside of work, my family is my world. My husband and I have been together more than 30 years. We raised three boys and are now proud grandparents of two. When I'm not with my family, you'll find me at the beach, traveling, tending to my garden or soaking up everything summer has to offer.
