About Heidi Irwin
Heidi received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine here in Chicago. She travelled to Guangzhou, China, for an internship at the International Training Centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she observed and treated in an integrated teaching hospital. She also holds a BA degree in Psychology from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
Heidi has been practicing for 13 years in Chicago. Heidi helped to develop an acupuncture program at a local hospital for inpatient treatment of migraine headaches and other chronic pain conditions. She has worked extensively with veterans through the Veterans Choice Program / VA Patient – Centered Community Care programs.
Heidi has a special interest and training in orthopedic problems, pain, and injury recovery. She has extensive experience with migraine headaches, women’s health, and stress-related symptoms

Heidi is amazing! At the beginning of every appointment, she asks me how I am feeling and listens carefully to my needs and concerns. Her bedside manner always puts me at ease, and I truly have an hour to destress and relax. I leave feeling like a new person!

I have really enjoyed working with Heidi, she always makes sure to check in with me at the beginning of each appointment for any changes, but still remembers what I've mentioned at previous appointments as well. I tend to ask questions about how and why she treats things a certain way and she is always happy to explain certain points, how they work etc. I always leave feeling relaxed, in less pain and happy!

Heidi has been a wonder in helping me feel better through the use of acupuncture and Chinese medicine! I admittedly have a fear of needles and Heidi has been extremely patient with that and my hypersensitivity. She is very calm and practiced in her administration and immediately creates an environment of trust, calm, and well-being. I look forward to every session and I always walk away feeling 150% better than when I came in! I cannot say enough good things about Heidi, she is full of knowledge and kindness and I would highly recommend seeing her, she will definitely help you heal and make you feel better!

I have seen a handful of different acupuncturists, and Heidi is the best at helping me with my pain! I have mild scoliosis in my upper back that tends to cause other issues allll over my back, shoulders, and neck. Anytime I have a flare-up, I know that I can count on her to help me out! She knows how to find every tight muscle and really get them to release. I look forward to every appointment with her, especially when I get one of my tension migraines (which has since become less frequent). Not to mention, she is also a huge emotional support for me for when I have a day that needs a little extra emotional/mental help. Acupuncture (and Heidi) can truly help with any and everything!

I've been seeing Heidi for acupuncture at Aligned for about a year now. I'm convinced that my weekly sessions with her saved my sanity through this pandemic year and they always took COVID precautions extremely seriously. She's talented, affable, and a great listener. Highly recommend!
