Getting to know Dr. Helder Filipe Cruz Araujo

As a psychiatrist, my role is to help you navigate these experiences and develop a deeper understanding of them. With that understanding, and using appropriate clinical tools, I work with you to support your well-being and move toward a more stable and fulfilling life.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist and neuroscientist (MD-PhD) providing telepsychiatry for adults across California. My work centers on comprehensive evaluation and ongoing treatment, integrating medication management with psychotherapy, with a focus on anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, OCD, and psychotic disorders.
My approach integrates psychiatry, neuroscience, psychotherapy, and psychoanalytic perspectives to create individualized care. I devote meaningful time to each session and work collaboratively with you to support your goals.

First Visit - Psychiatric Intake
The first visit, often called a psychiatric intake, is the starting point for establishing care. During this comprehensive session, we will explore your current concerns, medical and psychiatric history, and collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan.
Duration: 75–90 minutes
Fee: $600
Medication Management Follow-Up
These visits focus on evaluating your response to medication, discussing any side effects or concerns, and making adjustments as needed. Sessions also include brief supportive psychotherapy to address current challenges and provide ongoing care.
Duration: 15–30 minutes
Fee: $300
Psychotherapy Follow-Up
These visits focus on psychotherapy, drawing from a range of approaches tailored to your individual needs. Depending on your treatment plan, they may include medication management or be dedicated entirely to talk therapy.
Duration: 45–60 minutes

Highly recommend. From the very first visit, Dr. Araujo created a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where I felt truly heard. He took the time to listen carefully and asked thoughtful, compassionate questions. What stood out most was his ability to be present and engaged, as well as the way he combined deep medical knowledge with genuine empathy. I left the appointment feeling understood. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve had with a mental health professional.
