My Name is Helen Ohene, I have dual certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I treat patients all ages with different backgrounds and ethnicity. I believe in holistic care and consider my patients as a whole person. My ability to develop a good rapport with my patients results in improved care and open communication. I provide all psychiatric services as well as wellness and weight loss services. My goal is to make all my patients feel heard and not to treat them as a number and provide them with the best quality care. Due to my experience in both primary and psychiatric care, I use a holistic, patient-centered and community-based model, which integrates mental health with primary care, in applying evidence-based practices in treating my patients, either they are requiring medication management or psychotherapy. I see patients from ages 5 and up. I treat both acute and chronic conditions mental health issues including mood disorders, substance use disorders, weight issues, ADHD, Gender dysphoria disorders, among others. All appointments are based on Telehealth, with open ended communication and solution focused based on evidence-based practices. I have been in nursing for over 17years, started as an LVN, worked for 3 years in a nursing home , then went back to completed my Bachelor’s in Nursing, worked as a beside nurse for 6 years, then went to get my Masters as a family nurse practitioner, working in outpatient clinic and Primary care home health. Then in 2020 during the COVID pandemic went back school to get my Post Masters, to enable me to be more independent, influence quality patient care and improving patient outcomes .
