About Dr. Herbert Insel
Dr. Insel is a warm and endearing individual who embodies all of the personal attributes of an old school traditional caring physician. His calm and reassuring demeanor make you feel comfortable and assured that he is genuinely attentive to your concerns. Dr. Insel is well versed in the knowledge and expertise necessary to maintain a state of the art cardiology practice and possesses the accompanying technological advances to do so.
Dr. Insel's passion is preventive cardiology, a topic on which he frequently lectures. He also leads by example and embraces these principles into his own personal lifestyle. Dr. Insel is considered one of the premier cardiologists in New York City, and is highly regarded and respected by his patients and colleagues alike. Dr. Insel and his staff look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to his practice.
Dr. Insel graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. Following residency, Dr. Insel completed his fellowship in cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Insel is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is on staff at New York University Langone Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital and maintains a teaching position at New York University Medical Center.

Dr. Insel and his staff are 5 starts across the board. Courteous, efficient, pleasant, responsive. I have been seeing doctors in New York City for 25 years now and I have never seen excellence in every category like this! And it all trickles from the top down because Dr. Insel himself is an absolute pleasure. Kind, funny, sensitive, reassuring and most of all -- knowledgable. One of my favorite doctor's visits. Dr. Insel is very caring, kind, and listens well. Put me at ease right away, and he does all of his own scans so you get to hear results immediately instead of having a technician tell you that you have to "wait for the doctor" for the answers.

Scheduled the appointment just 2 hours prior. Super speedy appointment. I was in and out of the office within an hour (and that's with assessment, ekg, and echo!) Doctor and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Office very cozy. Would definitely recommend.
