“The overall experience with Dr. Ghanta was phenomenal. I just didn't like how the lady at the front desk working that day had so much attitude towards me for no apparent reason. She was nice to the gentleman (white male) after me (Asian male) so I am not sure if her demeanor was driven by that (I, as much as possible, refuse to assume that). I certainly didn't look decrepit either when I showed up to that office for her to have that discriminatory look towards me. I am also a healthcare professional so I know how to deal with people PROFESSIONALLY; obviously she does not. I really did not like that front desk lady—whatever her name is (I should have asked)— and I am itching to report her to HR so badly. She needs some time off or something—she obviously hates her job.
Nevertheless, Dr. Ghanta was so sweet, professional, and amazing. She answered all my questions appropriately and knowledgeably. Will definitely recommend her!”

About Dr. Himabala Ghanta
Dr. Hima Ghanta is a board-certified colorectal surgeon at Holy Name, specializing in both colon and rectal surgery for malignant (cancerous) as well as benign (non-cancerous) conditions including diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, and rectal bleeding. She has advanced training in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Ghanta has been practicing for almost 20 years and highly values the close individual relationships she builds with her patients and their families. Her long-standing mission has been to foster open conversations about sensitive health topics. She empowers her patients with knowledge to address their health needs, ask specific questions, and stay aware of appropriate and timely screenings.
Dr. Ghanta earned her medical degree at St. George's University School of Medicine, Grenada. She completed her residency in general surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. She subsequently completed her fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2008. She has been a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons since 2008.
Dr. Ghanta is proud to be a physician and surgeon at Holy Name due to its well-established reputation for offering high quality in northern New Jersey.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, cake decorating, and spending time with her husband and two boys.

Given the uncomfortable, and perhaps even squeamish nature of hemorrhoids, I was not looking forward to going to the doctor. Everything about her was outstanding, her bedside manner, gentle approach, willingness to hear what I had to say - it was all exactly what I needed and far better than I expected. She is an absolute gem. I highly highly recommend to anyone experiencing any rectal issues of any kind. One additional note, she did not pressure me whatsoever to do surgery despite her being a surgeon. ?
