Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
AZ
Hi there, I'm Hortense! “Hi, my name is Hortense your mental health provider. It's a pleasure to meet you. I am here to listen, to assess, to help, to treat, and to guide you.” My approach My approach to mental health is psychoanalysis. I use this approach to explore the patients’ present and past encounters or trauma that affect their current mental status. This way I will be able to know them better and treat them. My patient focus is client-centered. Giving them guidance and support for them to help manage their condition. My focus Adults with ADHD, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, insomnia, schizophrenia, PTSD. My communication style I am an assertive communicator, open and relaxed, ask direct questions, and maintain eye contact to let the patients know that I have their undivided attention. I try to create a friendly environment that makes patients feel at ease and encourages trust. I bring positive energy and am a great team player and leader. My journey to mental healthcare What inspired me to pursue a career in behavioral health was the lack of immediate care and resources for behavioral health individuals in the rural area, and access to mental health care while I was working in Snowflake, Arizona. During my tenure as a primary care nurse practitioner, I treated a lot of mental illnesses, including depression, Anxiety, and insomnia. Therefore, I decided to pursue a career in mental health to have a better understanding of mental health disorders and treatment options to help patients and to help fill in the gap. Plus, I do have the skills that align with mental health. I am an active listener, with great communication skills and empathy. My goals for you Firstly, is to allow the patient to identify what they want to change. find out what their short-term and long-term goals are. Allow them to set realistic goals they are going to keep and follow up on the progress.
