Her years with literature and oral histories left her convinced that some of the best stories are the real lives of the people around her, including her patients.

Her care is grounded in more than 500 hours a year of supervision and case discussion with supervising psychiatrist Dr. Bernard Kim, MD, so the thinking behind your care reflects more than one mind. Born in South Korea and raised in both Thailand and the United States, Hyojin brings a deep, well-traveled empathy to people working through hard seasons, and she believes in helping her patients regain authorship over their own lives. Her first visits are consultations rather than a rush toward an immediate prescription, and the relationships she builds are meant to last, often through the chapters of life. In her free time she enjoys singing, gardening, and time with family and friends, and she works to model the kind of balance she hopes for her patients.
