About Dr. Idelka Rodriguez
Dr. Rodriguez obtained her degree in Medicine at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. She completed her Residency Program in Family Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and later completed a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine, at Montefiore Medical Center (Wakefield Campus).
After completing her training, she joined Montefiore Medical Group where she worked as a Primary Care Physician and served a diverse community of patients. In 2018 she joined James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx; she provided care to female patients under the Comprehensive Women's Health Veterans Program. She enjoyed working with medical students and residents. During her tenure, she was involved in different leadership roles. Dr. Rodriguez became the VA site director for the Prevention Medicine Residency Program at Mount Sinai and was the Manager of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program (HPDP) at the Bronx VA for two years. She was involved in multiple population health projects related to CVD prevention, Immunization uptake, Cancer Screening; etc. She was also the lead clinician for the Tobacco Cessation Program. During the pandemic, she transitioned from that role and became the Co-Director and lead clinician of a COVID-19 After Care Program. This was a Recovery Program designed for veterans with persistent symptoms or sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) AKA Long COVID.

Dr. Rodriquez was very pleasant and thorough. I didn’t like the exam room where it was so cold and they let you sit for a long time with a little paper robe on to wait for Doctor. Otherwise the office staff was very kind and helpful

Dr. Rodriguez was the best doctor experience I have had in years! I waited less than 10 minutes to be brought into the exam room where my vitals, etc were taken right away. When Dr. Rodriguez came in moments later she stayed in the exam with me for nearly an hour!!!! I couldn’t believe it. As a new patient she wanted to get every detail of my (and my parents) medical history. She said, in not so many words, if I am going to be your new PCP I want to be sure we are fully on top of everything. I couldn’t believe the time and care she took with me- truly top notch. Answered any and all questions I had while also offering advice. She is amazingly easy to talk to. Just a very kind human being who clearly truly cares about her patients. I am so happy to have found her. I left (after getting all my bloodwork and labs done in the same exam room!) feeling very heard and like I am in great hands as I move into my mid-40’s!!! Highly highly recommend Dr. Rodriguez!!!

Normally I feel like I have to fight to be heard by the doctor, because they spend 5 minutes with me trying to rush to their next patient. She wasn’t like that at all! She was patient, she listened, and treated me like we had all the time in the world to talk. She was wonderful! Great bed side manner, extremely friendly, and very sweet.

Yesterday I had my first visit with my new primary care doctor, Dr. Idelka Rodriguez. After moving to the area a year ago, I put off finding another doctor, but it was time, and I definitely feel like I made the right choice. Dr. Rodriguez spent a full hour going over my entire history and providing a thorough exam. She was kind, patient, and attentive. Staff was friendly and I didn't have to wait. This is the kind of medical experience everyone should have.

I very rarely visit doctors, and I was nervous about my appointment. There was a doctor in training as well, so they worked together.
They listened well, addressed all my concerns, and made me feel comfortable. I had a lot of information to provide, and it was one of the first times I did not feel rushed out the door. I appreciate that they took time to listen and treat me like a person.
