About Dr. Ilya Lim
Ilya Lim, MD, FAAD, is board-certified in dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery. Dr. Lim grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a concentration in biomedicine from New York University Tandon School of Engineering. Dr. Lim attained his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine.
After completing an internship in internal medicine at the New York University Langone Medical Center, Dr. Lim completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He was board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 2014. Dr. Lim was faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Department of Dermatology from 2014 to 2017. Dr. Lim subsequently worked at the Yale School of Medicine Department of Dermatology as an assistant professor. Dr. Lim is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons(ASDS), American Society for Mohs Surgery (ASMS), as well as the International Peeling Society (IPS).
Dr. Lim has co-authored multiple book chapters as well as articles in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD) and the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV).
His interests include but are not limited to skin cancer (including surgical procedures), precancer, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis/eczema, acne, rosacea, melasma, vitiligo, warts, and complex medical dermatology. His other interests include cosmetic dermatology including Botox injections, chemical peels, and laser procedures.
Dr. Lim enjoys living in Sarasota with his wife and children. His interests include tennis, pickleball, reading, and traveling. In addition to English, Dr. Lim speaks Russian, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew. Dr. Lim is currently accepting new patients at our Port Charlotte location.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a physician who was carrying, competent, and comprehensive. He found a suspicious lesion and immediately biopsy it. Several other places on my skin he injected because he felt they were inflammatory. The entire experience was thorough, and surprisingly comprehensive. I am extremely pleased with this dermatologist.

Staff was kind, but the wait was insane. I understand that things happen, and offices get backed up, but I waited almost a full hour before seeing the doctor. My appointment was at 11:00am, and I was not brought into a room until 11:25am. By 11:50am I still had not seen the doctor, and he finally came in close to 12pm. He only spent about 7 minutes with me, and did not seem to care to spend longer, just wanted to throw a standard treatment at me and then head out.
I probably would not go back, and have plans to cancel my follow-up appointment. When my prescription runs out, I will find a new doctor to see.

This the most efficient doctors office I’ve ever been too. In and out in a half hour. Both Dr Lim and assistant Sarah were great. Explained what he was going to do, performed the procedure, and Sarah bandaged me up.
