Ivy Chen, MAOM

Ivy Chen, MAOM

Acupuncturist
620 Massachusetts Ave, #7, Cambridge, MA
Having spent her childhood and teenage years in China, Ivy Chen was surrounded by the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), though she never initially envisioned herself as a practitioner. It wasn’t until she moved to the United States with her family that her path toward Eastern medicine truly began. When her firstborn fell ill, Ivy sought help from a pediatrician, who simply prescribed Tylenol to reduce the fever and sent them home. Dissatisfied with the surface-level treatment, Ivy questioned why the root cause of the illness wasn’t being addressed. To her, the medication felt like a temporary band-aid, not a real solution. That moment, driven by a mother’s concern for her child, became the turning point that led her to explore Eastern medicine’s deeper, more holistic approach to healing. Ivy went on to earn her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from MCPHS University, completing four rigorous years of study. She successfully passed five nationally accredited board exams and became licensed by the Board of Registration in Medicine (BORIM) as an acupuncturist and herbal medicine practitioner. This prestigious licensure allows her to craft custom herbal formulas tailored to each patient’s unique needs—guided by the ancient diagnostic methods of pulse and tongue analysis used in Chinese medicine for over 3,500 years. Today, Ivy Chen is dedicated to treating the root causes of illness and restoring balance to her patients’ health and wellbeing through the time-tested wisdom of Eastern medicine.
