About Dr. James Gruft

James Gruft, MD, FAAPMR, DABPM, is a pain management specialist and the founder of From Pain To Wellness LLC in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. Dr. Gruft is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Pain Medicine (DABPM). He has been voted "Best Doctor" since 2002 in a nationwide survey of physicians and is recognized by colleagues across the country as one of the premier pain specialists practicing today. Dr. Gruft earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Columbia University. Before establishing From Pain To Wellness LLC, he served as the medical director of one of Chicago's oldest pain management programs for more than 14 years. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, a diplomat of the American Board of Pain Medicine, and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Congress of Rehabilitation, the Illinois Society of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the American Pain Society, the Midwest Pain Society, the American Academy of Pain Management, and the American Academy of Pain Medicine. In his practice, Dr. Gruft employs a hands-on, integrative care system he developed to broaden the primarily physical focus on pain. His innovative approach thoroughly addresses both the physical and emotional components necessary to effectively treat a patient's suffering.
