Getting to know James Young

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe seeking psychiatric care should feel supportive, collaborative, and free of judgment. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing what you’re experiencing. I take the time to understand the whole person—not just a diagnosis. Together, we’ll look at your symptoms, life experiences, stressors, physical health, and personal goals to develop a treatment plan that feels realistic and individualized to you. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood concerns, life transitions, or simply trying to feel more like yourself again, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and compassion. If my approach feels like a good fit for what you’re looking for, I’d be honored to work with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first visit is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to care. We’ll review your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, lifestyle, stressors, and treatment goals so I can better understand the full picture. From there, we’ll work together to create an individualized treatment plan. Depending on your needs, this may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, additional screening or lab work, and coordination with other healthcare providers when appropriate. Follow-up visits are collaborative and focused on how you’re progressing. We’ll review what is working, discuss any concerns or side effects, make adjustments when needed, and continue building toward your goals. My approach is designed to be thoughtful, practical, and supportive, with you actively involved in decisions about your care.
