Hi i I'm Janice I have been a nurse for 30 years, the last 10 years was spent in the ICU at a psychiatric hospital in West Palm Beach FL, this is where my interest was sparked to pursue a career as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner My approach to care is patient-centered care that uses Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Multicultural, Person-Centered, Positive Psychology, and Reality Therapy. Patients I typically work with are individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, dementia, and ADHD. Patients have informed me that, I have a relaxing tone of voice toward them during therapy. My journey to becoming a mental healthcare provider began in the ICU with patients who OD'd, if they were fortunate enough to wake up, I would sit with the patient and speak with them about how they came to be in the situation they were in. The want to help others deal with personal issues and trauma is what continues to make me strive to be a better practitioner One small goal at a time, over a short period of time and proceed forward with longer term goals over a longer period of time. A patient should expect our first meeting to be about building rapport with each other by sharing information about each other.
