Hi there, I'm Jannet!
Psychiatry has always been a passion for Jannet Harkins, PMHNP. With five years of experience in Emergency Psychiatry, Inpatient and Outpatient Adult and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Chemical Dependency, she brings a diverse skill set and dedication to collaborative care to Rula.
My approach
Jannet believes in partnering with patients to achieve their health goals. As Noam Shpancer, PhD, aptly stated, “Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” Together with Jannet, embark on a journey towards mental well-being, one step at a time.
My focus
Jannet views psychiatry as both an art and a science, a privilege she is grateful to practice. Her extensive experience with Anxiety, Depression, OCD, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia, combined with her travels across the country to learn different treatment approaches, allows her to tailor personalized care plans for each patient’s unique obstacles.
My communication style
In my role as a Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner, I have developed a communication style that is tailored to the individual needs of each client. I understand the importance of empathetic and compassionate communication, especially when patients are undergoing new life challenges. I take the time to actively listen to their concerns, address their questions and fears, and provide them with clear and accurate information about their treatment plan.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started working in the medical field as a nurse assistant which sparked my interest in furthering my knowledge and experience as a nurse and nurse practitioner. I enjoy helping others in challenging times, making a positive impact, improving opportunities for patients, and helping to create stronger communities.
