Getting to know Dr. Jasmine Kim

**Our practice requires a brief 15-minute consultation call before scheduling an intake to ensure good fit and clarity from the start.** I am a board-certified psychiatrist providing collaborative, individualized care that integrates comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, thoughtful medication management, and therapy informed by CBT, DBT, and schema therapy. I focus on understanding the full context of each person’s mental health and helping shift long-standing patterns, not just managing symptoms. I earned my bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Duke University, my MD from Tulane University, completed my psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate/King’s County Hospital where I served as chief resident. I am currently pursuing advanced training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I start by listening closely to your story and understanding the full context of your mental health--not just isolated symptoms. From there, we create a plan together that feels personalized and doable, whether it involves therapy, education, medication, or a combination. I focus on keeping care clear, collaborative, and effective, so you always feel like an active partner in your journey. In alignment with this philosophy and given the limitations of telehealth care, I do not routinely prescribe benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin) at this practice. When used routinely, these medications require close follow-up and in-person assessment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I strive to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel heard. The goals of the subsequent sessions are focused on helping you understand yourself better, build practical tools for daily life, and make lasting changes that feel right for you. Over time, my hope is that you feel more confident, grounded, and able to navigate life with resilience.
