Getting to know Dr. Jason Bennett
IMPORTANT NOTICES: In line with efforts to curb the community spread of COVID-19, I am conducting all visits via a HIPAA-compliant, secure telehealth portal. As of March 2020, I have availability to see new patients for medication consultation, but I currently have no open psychotherapy appointments. If using insurance, I recommend verifying coverage with your insurer prior to the visit. I treat only adults and do not perform evaluations for third parties (disability, forensic, governmental agency, etc.). I am not contracted with Medicare and have “opted out.” I generally perform an initial evaluation over several sessions and do not typically prescribe medications after only one visit. If you have general questions about my practice, please address them via email, as I reserve phone calls for urgent clinical issues.
I am a psychiatrist and psychotherapist trained at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (Doctor of Medicine) and completed my residency in Psychiatry at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. My practice is influenced by an appreciation of the unique biological, psychological, and social aspects that contribute to an individual's emotional well-being or suffering. Biological treatments like medications can be part of a solution but must be used rationally and carefully and are rarely “cures.” Insight into the psychology of the individual, especially the hidden parts of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, can be invaluable even if hard won in psychotherapy. Attention to one's social, cultural, and environmental context in concert with these areas is the final part of effective treatment.

I am afraid I must agree with a previous reviewer: "Unless you are going for some medical prescription, don't waste your time. I felt no compassion or empathy for the pain I was suffering."
If you have your condition well under control, Dr. Bennett might be all you need. If you need someone unafraid of independent critical thinking, someone who is truly dedicated to their patients as well as to psychiatry as a vocation, science, and craft, look elsewhere.

He was so easy to talk to and I can tell he was really listening. His relaxed and friendly demeanor makes it easy to open up and not feel judged. I can tell I was rambling on and on, but he didn't interrupt even though we were going a little over time. Hard to find a doctor like him!
