Getting to know Dr. Jason Shugoll
Jason Shugoll, a Psychiatrist, comes to Bloom Health Centers with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Dr. Shugoll completed his training and was certified to do TMS by Neurostar. Dr Shugoll attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2011-2015, he majored in biology with minors in chemistry and Italian. From there, he earned a master's degree in biomedical science from Eastern Virginia Medical School (2015-2017) and stayed on for medical school from 2017-2021, when he graduated with his MD. Then, Dr. Shugoll started a psychiatry residency at UVA (University of Virginia Medical Center) with an anticipated graduation in June of this year (2025). Regarding professional experience, Dr. Shugoll participates in weekend coverage at Western State Hospital, a 300-bed facility, as a covering physician and started this position in December of 2023 through the present.
Dr. Shugoll primarily serves adult patients experiencing a variety of struggles with attention disorders, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and much more.
Dr. Shugoll shares it has been great living and working in Charlottesville over the last 4 years, and he is excited to provide care to the community. Outside of his clinical time, Jason enjoys playing golf, reading, traveling, and playing chess.

The provider wasted my time and refused to prescribe the meds that I've been on for 10+ years, which help me with my anxiety and ADHD. I should have canceled the appointment early and asked him not to even bother billing my insurance company because it was a complete waste of time. He also came off as condescending and rude. I would not recommend him as a potential provider.

Dr. Jason seemed truly interested and invested in my mental health concerns. He laid out a short-term plan to address all of my concerns and wanted to follow up with me to continue to learn about me as a person so he could figure out the best course of action.
