About Dr. Jeannette Jakus
Dr. Jeannette Jakus is a Board Certified Dermatologist trained in the treatment of a full spectrum of skin disorders with specialized expertise in pediatric dermatology - a unique focus on pediatric and adolescent skin conditions. A lifelong New Yorker, Dr. Jakus graduated from Columbia College at Columbia University with a double major in Premedical Sciences and Economics, received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, she completed a pediatrics residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a dermatology residency and pediatric dermatology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She is one of the few physicians in the region to be Board Certified in both pediatrics and dermatology. Dr. Jakus also has an MBA from Columbia Business School, and is the inaugural recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology Translational Biotechnology Fellowship in Sophia Antipolis, France. Dr. Jakus is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the society of Pediatric Dermatology, the Woman's Dermatologic Society, the Acne and Rosacea Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

This was my first visit as a new patient, and I was very pleased with the experience. Dr. Jakus was incredibly thorough, taking the time to speak with me and address all of my concerns. She is both knowledgeable and approachable, which made me feel at ease. Daniella, who assisted her during the appointment, was also excellent. She listened attentively and provided me with a detailed summary of the medications and procedures we discussed. The office staff were friendly, polite, and welcoming. I felt comfortable and well cared for throughout the entire visit. Overall, an excellent experience. I highly recommend Dr. Jakus and her team.

The most thorough exam I have gotten from a dermatologist. I found her to be informative, kind, answered all my questions and she does not rush you out of the exam room.
I work in the medical field and also see many specialists at my age, but I would rate Dr. Jakus as exceptional.

Absolutely amazing dermatologist. Acquired my history and checked me regardless. She isn't trying to sell you anything but your health. Prior dermatologists insisted on advertising medications or treatments they had at the clinic. Dr. Jackus offered me advice, her time and her ears to listen to all I had to discuss.

Dr. Jakus carefully listened to my concerns and spoke with me as to how we could address them based on timeframe, conservative/aggressive, side effects, cost, and effectiveness.
She empathized with me after I made it clear that money was tight and helped find a way to mitigate my costs. She was one of the only physicians I have encountered that actually asked me about my means, goals, and needs before giving me a plan of action.

The provider is thoughtful and took time to explain pros and cons of the procedures. I had to visit the office multiple times, so I had plenty of exposure to the office and office staff. I was especially impressed that the physician was not afraid to suggest that no action (e.g., wait-and-see) was a clear alternative. Meticulous office environment. High recommended.

Dr. Jakus was AMAZING, and so was her staff. I got lost on my way but the receptionist helped me find my way to the office and greeted me warmly even though I was about 30 minutes late. I spent maybe 5 mins signing papers with one of the techs and then Dr.Jakus came in. Easily one of my longest appointments because I had so may questions and she answered all of them. I'm the pickiest person I know when it comes to my doctors and after about 5 years of searching, I have found my dermatologist.
