Portola Direct Primary Care is a membership-based concierge primary care practice in Irvine, which offers direct access to your PCP and longitudinal primary care. Dr. Jennifer Lee Dong is an Ivy League–educated, board-certified Internal Medicine physician and has practiced for over a decade. She taught as a Clinical Associate Professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York before moving and starting her practice in Irvine, CA. Her approach blends advanced clinical expertise with warmth, accessibility, and the time needed to truly understand each patient.
Dr. Dong is very experienced in managing chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, heart failure, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, hepatitis, asthma, obesity, arthritis, and allergies. She also integrates point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) into her diagnostic toolkit for more precise, real-time assessments.

The direct primary care (DPC) model eliminates copays, surprise bills, and rushed visits—allowing for same- or next-day appointments, extended time with your physician, and ongoing direct communication.

On the advice of a physician friend, I sought out Dr. Dong last month to help me understand and begin to address some confusing and anxiety-provoking health issues. I had been feeling lost about how to approach them, and so had been letting them linger unaddressed.
I have had two office visits, a phone consultation, and multiple text interactions with Dr. Dong (the practice’s texting app is great). The phone consultation was on the day after Thanksgiving, which I genuinely appreciated. Dr. Dong is very knowledgeable, caring, and easy to talk to. Everything has been unhurried.
With Dr. Dong’s help, I have been able to create a care plan and navigate specialist appointments as an informed patient, capable of asking the correct questions and requesting the correct testing and procedures. It has been like having a knowledgeable guide on my shoulder—someone who is entirely in my corner.

I just had my first visit with Dr. Jennifer Dong at Portola direct primary care. The whole experience was wonderful. I was greeted warmly by Dr. Dong when I walked in the door. The office space feels very comfortable and safe. Dr. Dong put me at ease with her authentic and caring approach. I am a physician myself and have been looking for a doctor like her for a long time. I highly recommend Dr. Dong and Portola direct primary care if you are looking for her a healthcare experience where you will truly be cared for.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Dong. From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative and responsive, even before my appointment. During my visit, she took the time to listen carefully to all of my concerns and performed a very thorough physical and checkup. I never felt rushed or dismissed, she was warm, professional and made sure to explain everything clearly. I can tell that Dr. Dong genuinely cares about her patients and their overall well-being. I left my appointment feeling confident and well cared for. I’m truly grateful to have her as my primary care provider.

For fifteen years Dr D was my PCP. If it made sense, I would have followed her out west. She is caring, thorough and informed, as well as being a very good listener. I wish her the best, but mostly I envy anyone lucky enough to have her as their medical professional.

During our visits she would display professionalism. She has an unwavering ability showing true commitment in insuring the best outcome for my care. She was patient answering all of my questions and concern's. Taking time to explain clearly what was going on and what my options . Her exceptional manner in how she connected with me was refreshing. I always knew I was in good hands. I admire her attention to detail that truly is a rare quality. Her caring bedside manner did not go unnoticed ,she always went above and beyond.

Dr. Dong has been my GP for more than 10 years and i wouldn’t have had it any other way. She’s highly respected in New York City where I first met her.
Dr.Dong has always been caring, resourceful, respectful and kind. She even would check-up on me even if I didn’t have an appointment - that’s the kind of person she is.
