Psychologist

I work best with people struggling in their relationships-whether work, social, familial, or romantic. I can help you better understand yourself and the other person, often guiding you to adjust your way of talking, thinking, and acting, which almost always positively affects how the other person treats you. I have helped some couples dramatically change their relationship, even when only one partner was my patient. I don't over-pathologize things and begin with a practical approach to all problems. When necessary, we look beneath the surface, but only when it's warranted; we decide together. I help you handle all your responses with class so you can feel proud of your behavior at all times, even when situations don't go your way. I discuss tone and expression and always find a way to express exactly what you want to say without compromising your message or feelings. I can also help you work better with narcissistic partners and improve your experience. In therapy, I talk openly and share what I'm thinking. Together, we refine the reasons for your feelings and behavior and help you make specific changes. I help you stay focused so you don't feel like you've rambled, lost direction, or left without accomplishing something. I earned my PsyD from Nova Southeastern University and completed my internship at the University of Virginia. I further advanced my training through fellowships at Georgetown University and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Medical Psychology.

What should a new client know about working with you?

This is a place in which I take care of you and I don't ask for any care in return. This is why I don't have reviews on ZocDoc - I don't ask any of my patients to review me even if it seems simple enough to ask. The therapy time is yours, and I would like you to feel the freedom to feel anything and everything - like me, like therapy, hate me, hate therapy, and all of the feelings in between. Therapy can be easy, it can be hard, and there should not be any pressure to feel a particular way about me. Every feeling that arises is something for us to learn from and that is the goal. When we like therapy that is great and when we don't like it, that is ok too, we just work though it to understand it. In therapy I do the holding. I am concerned about you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin therapy exactly where you are and what you wish to talk about. We take the history as we go along and follow the most pressing issue at hand. I am active in therapy and you will not feel as though you were simply venting with no direction.
