Getting to know Dr. Jennifer Minami

** I am an out-of-network provider with all commercial insurances and do not participate with Medicare. Individuals with commercial insurance are provided with a receipt to submit to their insurance to seek reimbursement ** ** THERAPIST with extensive training from the top academic institutions in the country, including Columbia University, Cornell University, and Harvard University. ** PSYCHIATRIST with double board certification to treat both Adults and Children. ** Genetic testing with Genesight (neuropsychiatric pharmacogenomic testing to better understand how your DNA works with medications prescribed to you). My training and experience as a physician and psychotherapist mean I am able to provide highly comprehensive mental health care. The overwhelming majority of Psychiatry training programs focus heavily on the medical model of prescribing medications to treat psychiatric conditions. While I value my top-notch Psychiatry training, I have also dedicated thousands of hours beyond the required education for psychiatrists to hone my skills as a psychotherapist. I have maintained faculty appointments at universities since 2015, where I am able to lecture, mentor, and supervise psychiatry residents and other mental health professionals. I welcome questions and curiosity about your care, relationships and "stuck points" in your life. I look forward to working with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe in the transformative power of psychotherapy. Therefore, most of the individuals in my practice are engaged in psychotherapy (with me or another professional). It is with exception that individuals are prescribed medication only.

** I am an out-of-network provider with all commercial insurances and do not participate with Medicare. I offer a free confidential consultation call; it’s a chance to talk, for you to share a little bit more about what has been going on, and for you to get a sense of me and my practice. If using insurance is important to you, I recommend you call your insurance to verify ahead of time whether they would reimburse you and to what % for an out-of-network behavioral health provider. Many of my patients have had success in getting a large majority of their costs covered. I will guide you along the way. After years of working within the confines of insurance, where some services are limited to how often we can meet or how many times total for a certain condition, I have decided to focus 100% on you. Because of this, I can provide accessible, high quality, up-to-date, and uniquely tailored services for you.

Dr. Minami has been my psychiatrist for 4 years and I can't say enough about her. She's kind, attentive, and simply the best I've had.
Dr. Minami is exactly the kind of person you hope to get when looking for a new doctor. I went through several different psychiatrists (& psychologists) that kept diagnosing me w/extreme clinical depression & prescribing me high doses of meds that just weren’t working. I needed help but had very little hope of it. Then I found Dr. Minami — & she actually listened to me! Really tried to understand my personal history, & considered all the details, not just the “keywords” past doctors seemed to zero in on. She is thoughtful, thorough, & personable. I finally felt seen & heard! I’ve been seeing her for several months now & am being successfully treated for ADHD, not depression/anxiety. I can’t thank her enough as i finally feel like myself again for the first time in a very, very long time. My family/friends all say they feel like they finally have “me” back. I thought I’d never feel like myself again and I am so grateful to Dr. Minami for listening to me and going the extra mile!
After years of seeing different psychiatrists and being put on medications that didn't work, Dr. Minami got it right. I am thriving at work, I am happier, and everyone in my life notices how much better I am. Thanks, Dr. Minami!
The best psychiatrist I’ve ever had. My life is stable and going so well and I’m very thankful for Dr. Minami. Women psychiatrist are hard to find so again, I highly recommend her!
Dr. Minami has been instrumental in my teenage sons journey to mental wellness. Without her he may not be here with us. His mental illness was overwhelming for him and our family. Dr. Minami was able to manage both his medication and therapy and help us support him in the best ways possible.
