Jennifer Woodell, FNP

Nurse Practitioner
10810 Mallard Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC
I went into medicine because of my mother. My mother is a nurse, and when I was little, she would tell me stories about her days at work. Those stories inspired me to go into medicine as well, so like her, I could help people each day. I became a family nurse practitioner after working as a nurse in the orthopedic trauma and cardiology specialties. Getting to know my patients and being able to help them with both acute illnesses and chronic conditions were priorities for me, and that led me to family medicine. Medicine should be a team effort, with my patients being the central part of that team. I value patient input into their care and encourage shared decision making. That can involve talking about dietary and lifestyle adjustments, starting a new medication, or referring out to another specialist. Educating people about their health is one of the most important parts of my job, especially when that includes recommending preventive screenings, counseling on the management of chronic conditions, or encouraging regular follow-ups to monitor ongoing concerns. As a Charlotte native, I have grown up taking advantage of our close proximity to the beach and the mountains. I love traveling to the mountains or the coast with family and friends, and when I have more extended time, I love exploring new countries. Seeing shows at the Belk Theater is another favorite pastime, as is finding other adventures in our city. When I am home, you can often find me with a good book; my "to be read" pile keeps growing!
