Dr. Jenny Mathew, DO

Psychiatrist
FL
I'm a board-certified psychiatrist who enjoys working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, career stress and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative and conversational. I believe effective psychiatric care begins with understanding the whole person- not just their symptoms, but also their relationships, goals and everyday life. My clinical background has allowed me to care for individuals across a broad spectrum of needs, from those navigating everyday stressors and life transitions to those experiencing more complex or acute psychiatric symptoms. While medication can be an important and sometimes essential part of treatment, I believe meaningful psychiatric care extends beyond medication alone. The way we feel is often influenced by many interconnected parts of our lives, including our relationships, work, sleep, exercise, substance use, daily habits, and the ways we cope with difficult emotions and experiences. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly about what’s going on in your life and feel genuinely heard. Together, we can explore not only your symptoms, but also the experiences, patterns, and coping strategies that may be contributing to how you feel. Ultimately, my goal is to understand you as a whole person and help you move toward a life that feels more balanced, stable, fulfilling, and authentically your own. You can find me on Headway, feel free to reach out to me directly there!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first visit is really a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what’s been going on. We’ll discuss what brought you in, what you’d like help with, what you’ve tried before, and what you’re hoping to feel or do differently. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing your concerns, and being honest about what is or isn’t working for you. I’ll explain my recommendations and the reasoning behind them so that we can make treatment decisions together. If medication may be helpful, we’ll talk through the benefits, potential side effects, and other options so you feel comfortable with the plan. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health. From our first visit onward, we’ll continue to check in, make adjustments when needed, and work together to find an approach that makes sense for you.
