About Jerry Edwards Jr

Growing up in a low-income household with a single parent, I witnessed firsthand the mental, environmental and financial barriers many people face when trying to access quality healthcare. Those experiences shaped my purpose and inspired me to pursue a career in medicine so I could make a meaningful impact in underserved communities. I chose primary care because it allows me to build long-term relationships with patients while focusing on prevention, education and overall wellness. I also have a strong passion for men's health. Helping patients better understand their health so they can make informed decisions and improve their quality of life is central to everything I do. My approach to healthcare centers around education, compassion and partnership. I believe patients should feel heard, respected and empowered throughout their healthcare journey. My goal is not only to treat illness, but also to educate and inspire patients to take an active role in their health and well-being. My personal mantra is to educate, inspire, lead by example and uplift. Patients can trust me to be responsible for their health because I genuinely care about the people and communities I serve. With experience in primary care, urgent care and occupational medicine, I strive to lead with professionalism, honesty and a commitment to quality care. At Novant Health, we believe that a well-informed patient is an empowered one, and that belief drives every interaction I have. I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in nursing practice, which continues to strengthen my ability to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care. I have also served as adjunct faculty, where the class of students I instructed achieved a 100% pass rate. Outside of medicine, I am passionate about uplifting my community through mentoring, teaching and encouraging others to pursue personal and professional growth.
