What should a new client know about working with you?

Navigating healthcare systems can be challenging and frustrating. I believe that a direct, open and compassionate approach brings the ideal environment for children to overcome depression, anxiety and other challenges that live throws. After many years working in academia and private practice I found that in conjunction of medications and/or therapy, active participation of families is crucial for my patients to improve. Medications and therapy are great modern tools to improve mental illness, but not enough. Active and open communication with patients and families often makes the difference between a successful and failed treatment Dr. Carbajal is a board-certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with more than 10 years in clinical practice. She believes that an integrative and individualized approach can help children and adolescents overcome depression and anxiety, and develop his/her capabilities to achieve their goals and to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I do evaluations and follow up appointments both in person and online for children and adolescents of old ages. After an initial evaluation we will generate a comprehensive plan tailored for each patient and established treatment goals. With time we will evaluate completion of our treatment goals. I am considered ‘out of network’ for Medicaid and Medicare and several commercial insurance carriers. I strive to develop a collaborative treatment plan focused on you and your child, independent of constraints or pressure from insurance companies. This doesn't mean your insurance company won't reimburse you for your visits. You may be able to apply for reimbursement yourself directly from your insurance company after you have paid your bill if your insurance plan offers you out of network benefits.
