“Dr. "O" is a perfect example of how a doctor should provide care. The word "doctor", literally mean "teacher". Dr. O did just that. There were some unfortunate abnormal findings on my EKG so Dr. O explained to me, in a very simplistic fashion, what was wrong and what the next step was in order to manage this problem. He was kind, thorough and genuine. It seems these attributes are rare in modern day physicians. He has earned my loyalty. ”

About Dr. Joel Onafowokan
Joel Onafowokan is the medical provider at Faith Medical Center (FMC). Prior to assuming this position, he was the Medical Director of Hospitalist Services at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, NC, where he pioneered the hospitalist program. Dr. Onafowokan is a thoroughbred physician with about ten years of extensive experience practicing medicine and has been practicing in North Carolina since 2004. His experience spans hospitalist, emergency, and critical care services, having worked at different acute and sub-acute care centers.
Dr. Onafowokan earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from the University of Benin College of Medical Sciences, Benin City. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons at Harlem Hospital Center in New York. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support.
His quest for excellence and superior skills has earned him respect among his peers. He has been extensively involved in teaching medical students and physician assistants and was awarded the "Excellence in Teaching" Award from the prestigious Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Onafowokan is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and South Carolina. He has admitting privileges with Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte and Matthews, as well as in the Carolinas Health System, also known as CMC.
He is very passionate about providing continuously improving quality health care for his patients. Dr. Onafowokan is active within his community, serving as a youth mentor. He is happily married to Anne Adenike, and they are blessed with three adorable children.

Staff was very unsure of what was covered in my plan, the physical was highly limited due to the extensive lack of knowledge of what was covered in the plan and the lack of knowing how much each test would be out of pocket or not. I was disappointed with how many forms I had to fill out despite filling in so much information on Zocdoc already. The office was very upset that I only had a photo of my insurance card, which was my fault, but the customer service was less than ideal nevertheless. I saw multiple people and it was the least helpful physical I've ever had.

I am concerned. I parted ways with my company today and am assuming inaurance expires at months end. Is there any way to set us up for about 6 refills of scheduled refills prior to losing converage? I thought it worked well today, felt benefits today. Slightly mild, appetite and lethargy still plague while dosing. But stil confident in all other rehards. Thanma

This guy is a waste of time and money, another doctor with a god complex. He cares more about his ego than your well being. You're better off medicating yourself than going to this jerk. 100% of his diagnoses are determined by what his pharmaceutical reps want him to do. He's a complete drone and a hack. Do NOT see this "doctor".

Their office management, however, was abysmal. I was not even called back to the patient rooms until 50 minutes after my appointment time. After the MA took my vitals, I spent another ~20 minutes waiting to be seen by the nurse practitioner.

Went hear to check out the practice, and unfortunately wasn't to impressed. Even though the place was empty my appointment took 2 hrs. Very little personal communication, and the staff didn't do a great job of informing me of what was going on. I am in the market for a new PCP, and I don't think I've found it here.
