Dr. John O. Gernert, the founder of Orlando Pain Centers of Excellence, has a deep-rooted passion for healthcare inspired by his great-grandmother, a midwife in rural Appalachian North Carolina. Born in Murphy, NC, and raised in East Tennessee, Dr. Gernert pursued his education at the University of Tennessee and Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of South Florida, followed by a specialized fellowship in interventional pain management at USF. With a dedication to transforming lives through innovative pain management, Dr. Gernert opened Orlando Pain Centers of Excellence in Spring 2022. He specializes in minimally invasive, needle-based therapies, including spinal cord stimulation and dorsal root ganglion stimulators, offering patients an alternative to opioids and a chance to reclaim their quality of life. Dr. Gernert resides in Baldwin Park with his wife, Kimberley, a real-estate specialist, and their three sons. When not working, he enjoys fishing on Lake Baldwin and spending time with his family.
