“I have seen Dr. Peters twice for skin spots, and he used an instrument to freeze them off, which was successful and was covered by my insurance. Today I saw Dr. Peters for some cosmetic dermatology. He explained the possible procedures and what was involved, and worked with me to choose the ones I thought suited me best. His bedside manner was very caring and he took time to make sure I was happy with the result. His office staff is very efficient and caring also!”

About Dr. John Peters
Dr. John Peters is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. His primary focuses are skin cancer and reconstructive surgery, medical dermatology, and laser medicine.
A native of Clarks Summit, PA, Dr. Peters earned his Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.) from Jefferson Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. Upon graduation, Dr. Peters entered active duty in the United States Navy. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center before reporting to Naval Air Station Pensacola where Dr. Peters then returned to postgraduate training and completed a residency in dermatology at Naval Medical Center San Diego where he served as Chief Resident. Following graduation, he was assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth where he served as Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Assistant Professor of Dermatology through the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He separated from the Navy in 2023 after 13 years of military service with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
He then completed a prestigious one-year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetic & Laser Dermatologic Surgery at SkinCare Physicians in Boston, MA where he was mentored by world-renowned faculty with appointments at Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Brown Medical Schools. Dr. Peters has been a speaker at national and international meetings and the author of over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters.

Dr. Peters was an excellent listener and did a thorough exam. He gave me plenty of time to ask questions about my condition and explained next steps to take for additional testing to get to the root causes of my issue. I will be switching practices and continue to see him for this issue as well as my yearly skin checks.
