About Dr. John Zhang
Doctor Zhang is the Founder of New Hope Fertility Center in New York City where he has served as the Medical Director since opening in 2004 and oversaw the expanding fertility network internationally to China, Russia, and Mexico.
A true pioneer in the area of minimally invasive (Natural Cycle and Mini-IVF™) fertility care, Dr. John Zhang is an active researcher and medical technology developer. He has been behind several notable achievements in the area of assisted reproductive technology (ART), including the birth of a child by a 49 year-old using her own eggs, helping to restore a young woman’s fertility through a recent ovarian tissue transplant surgery in February of 2012, and being named one of New York’s Top Doctors.
Dr. Zhang completed his medical degree at the Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and subsequently received his Master’s Degree at Birmingham University in the UK. In 1991, Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. in In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and, after studying and researching the biology of mammalian reproduction and human embryology for nearly ten years, became the first Fellow in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of New York University’s School of Medicine in 2001.

Staff provided inadequate service did not screen my appointment request to see if I had adequate information to move forward with my appointment , spoke with Dr. Zhang about a referral necessary to complete my appointment never received a call from office to move forward and get on the right track appreciate Dr. Zhang's call but lack of communication among staff is glaring and a disappointment.

Dr Zhang was very thorough with my initial consultation. He showed lots of pictures, drew diagrams, and explained everything step-by-step.
He called just hours later with bloodwork results, and then the nurse that had been in the appointment with us followed up with an email. I had a few questions for the nurse via email, and she responded within an hour each time very thoroughly.

Dr. Zhang was very friendly and pleasant. He took the time to explain everything to us carefully, but he also understands that you probably won't remember most of what you talk about so his office emails you after the appointment with everything that was discussed. The staff is very nice and the office is clean and very comfortable.

Dr Zhang is very helpful, friendly and professional. All of the staff are lovely and make you feel extremely comfortable. I feel after two visits that I'm am now very knowledgeable about all things to do with fertility and hope for some success with mine soon!

Dr. Zhang is a pioneer of mini-IVF. His training as an embryologist and a reproductive endocrinologist gives him an unparalleled understanding of the IVF process. My body responded much better to the mini-IVF protocol. If you have done several conventional cycles with disappointing results, why not try something different?
The clinic is typical of other large IVF centers - crowded waiting room. However, NH does offer coffee, tea and snacks. And the clinic is lovely.
Appointments with Dr. Zhang can be scheduled within 1-2 weeks. Wait time to see him is average for docs - 1 hour on average.

Visits are not consistant, wait time varies from each visit, which is understandable due to volume of patients. The main challenge with this facility is communication. It is extremely difficult to get in contracts with or receive an answer from anyone via email/phone, this can leed itself to errors being created. Nurses are always polite, sweet & professional.

Dr. Zhang, him medical team, and his support staff are amazing. Each time I go in for monitoring, they make the experience comfortable and a welcoming experience. Although, the doctor has countless patients, he treats you like your his only one. I am very happy with my doctor.

Whenever I talk to a doctor or nurse they have been very informative. Sometimes it is hard to reach them if immediate information is needed. Explanations & plans have been clear and I was able to talk to Embryologists when I wanted to. The waiting room is by far the best & most relaxing I have been in and in general things are efficient. At times I have had to advocate for myself to get answers or move a plan forward. I would appreciate a more proactive approach by the doctors. Very good with email responses, hard to reach on the phone.
