About Dr. Jonathan Trager
Jonathan Trager, MD, treats the whole person, body and mind, not just ailments. He is the only U.S. physician board certified in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, dermatology, and pediatric dermatology. He completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona under Dr. Andrew Weil. Dr. Trager provides comprehensive pediatric, adolescent, and young-adult primary medical and gynecologic care through age 30, plus dermatological care for all ages.
A Bayside, New York native, Dr. Trager earned his bachelor’s from Columbia University and his MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed residencies and a fellowship for his quadruple board certification at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and Mount Sinai Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Trager has published numerous medical articles and taught at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Winthrop University Hospital. In addition to his private practice in Great Neck, he is on staff at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, North Shore-LIJ (Northwell Health). His mission is to combine his specialized knowledge of pediatrics and adolescent-young adult medicine with an understanding of each patient’s complex needs to offer the highest standard of care.
Outside medicine, Dr. Trager enjoys living in Great Neck, studying classical piano, pipe organ, advanced music theory, and modern Greek. A science fiction enthusiast, he is an avid reader and writer.

My experience was horrible because the doctor came for less than two minutes and not even get closer to see my face. He told me from far away that I gave rosacea. I wouldn’t recommend him at all.

Office very nice. Didn't wait too long. Dr. was ok. Looked at my rash on my face. Gave a quick diagnosis after he asked a few questions. I asked about removing cysts on my head, he said next time. I have been to many dermatologists. Usually see a PA or NP. Since skin is the largest organ of the body, you would expect a more comprehensive exam. This is how it is. I will have to make an appt for every individual issue I have.

I felt robbed of a co-pay with Dr. Trager. There's a sign on the office window that says "Walk-ins Welcome" Most places in NY do not have such sign because other doctors actually spend time with their patients, read the notes of the medical assistant and look at their patient's skin. This doctor was in the office for 4 minutes, was as far away from my chair as I have ever been with any doctor and one of his suggestions for my acne prone face was, "put Vaseline on it". The office and reception areas were clean and beautiful, but empty; no patients waiting and now I know exactly why. Don't be fooled by his impressive bio.

Doctors appointment itself way okay but felt rushed. Doctor was in and out in 3 minutes and didn’t ask any questions or wait for any results. The larger issue was the front desk. Came across as rude and overcharged me even when i showed all my insurance supporting documentation explaining what my copay should be
