I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist with over 30 years in private practice. I graduated from Rush University with a Doctor of Medicine and completed my Residency in Psychiatry at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 1986. I also hold a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, specializing in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis. I recently retired from the VA after 30 years of service, where I spent 10 years as the Acting Chief of Psychiatry and held various inpatient and outpatient roles. Most recently, I served as the Medical Director of the Psychosocial Residential Treatment Program at Jesse Brown VA.
Since residency, I have been actively involved in teaching and supervising medical students and residents. For the past 15 years, I have been Chairman of Panel C IRB at Northwestern University and have chaired the combined University of Illinois/Northwestern/VA IRB since its formation. I also represent Northwestern on the ChairB Citywide IRB in Chicago. At the VA, I chaired the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee for over 20 years.
I am a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
In my private practice, I provide both medication management and psychotherapy. I specialize in Adult Attention Deficit Disorder and men's issues, treat most psychiatric problems, and also offer couples therapy.
I have taught film since residency and continue to do so. In recent years, I have invested in nightclubs and restaurants. Another major hobby of mine is traveling the world-I log over 150,000 miles a year.
I ask that patients pay me upfront; I accept cash, Chase Pay, and checks. I will bill insurance and credit any payment made.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I am out of the country 10 days every month with no coverage. People who need a psychiatrist who is available all the time should not seek treatmetn from me.

I was very nervous to find a psychiatrist when I moved to Chicago, but Dr. Goldman far exceeded my expectations. He was welcoming, asked questions , and listened to what I had to say during our first appointment- never once giving a judgmental vibe. I’m so thankful to have found Dr. Goldman and look forward to the future appointments we will have together.

Charges hundreds in cash up front as he pretends to be unsure if he accepts whatever insurance you have. Told me he'd reimburse me after he hears back from my insurance provider. It's been 15 business days and there's still no claim filed with them. Avoid at all costs.

He was very helpful in addressing my issues. So positive marks all around.
Only real complaint is the forms of payment he accepts need some work. It's basically impossible to use my FSA/HSA with the current modes.
