He then completed his Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa in Canada. After a brief period practicing in Nova Scotia, Dr. Igoa came to the Rio Grande Valley in 1984. Dr. Igoa has served as Medical Director of several institutions, including South Texas Behavioral Hospital and currently DHR Health Behavioral Hospital. He is board certified in General Psychiatry with subspecialties in Addiction, Geriatric, Forensic, and Psychoanalytic medicine. He holds certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a Fellow of the College of Psychiatrists of England. Additionally, he is a Lifetime Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and has earned board qualifications from the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
