Hi, my name is Joseph and I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in Pennsylvania. I specialize in adhd, anxiety, depression, insomnia & sleep issues, bipolar disorder, life transitions, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), family issues, burnout, life coaching, lgbtqia, gender, & sexuality topics, loss, grief, & bereavement, men’s issues, relationship issues, stress management, college & graduate student mental health. I’ve been in nursing for 9 years and completed my psychiatric training at University of Pennsylvania. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected and cared for.

My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I believe in establishing a strong, collaborative relationship with each client, where we work together to make informed decisions about their treatment. My practice is inclusive and welcoming, embracing diversity in culture, background, and experience. I have worked with a wide range of clients, including students, parents, professionals from various fields, skilled tradespeople, service industry workers, retail employees, entrepreneurs, artists, and technology experts. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where each individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals.
I chose to be a psych NP because I find the inner worlds of people fascinating and believe that life tends to improve when we pay attention to them. By listening to and honoring all that goes on inside us -- rather than ignoring or keeping hidden those things that don’t fit neatly into the version of life we've carefully curated -- we learn how to become more authentic, and hopefully fulfilling, versions of ourselves.
Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Booking Process:
Request your appointment time on Zocdoc. My office will email you an online intake form to ensure I’m able to help you. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to confirm an appointment time. I try my best to keep slots available each week for new clients.
Your First Visit:
The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for.
If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management.
My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises.
